This is wonderful, thank you. I just have to add that the far left is gaining institutional power, as seen clearly in NYC and the SF Bay Area, as well as showing across CA. In addition to elected officials like the Richmond, CA mayor, listening to Democratic representatives from across the state in the AB 715 hearings (to protect Jewish children from antisemitism in K-12, opposed by all teachers unions) is what made this registered Democrat of 58 years change my voter registration to unaffiliated.

I won’t change parties, but I won’t ally with a party that does not represent me or my community. It’s true my elected rep voted “Yes.” However, she did so after saying Jewish children should be protected BUT not at the cost of the function of education (whatever that means) and more.

Many elected Democrats were more worried about teachers rights to free speech, which is restricted in the classroom, than they were about Jewish children being harmed. In a reversal, it was two Republican representatives, in addition to several Democrats, who spoke out strongly and unequivocally to support Jewish children.

The teachers unions, which I was an activist in for over 15 years, rightly have a good deal of power and influence. If we dismiss the institutional power of the far left, I believe we are making a mistake.

    1. You make a very valid point and something I think we need to keep our eye on. In addition, today’s news from Shapiro doesn’t help.
